Philippe St-Jean


My name is Philippe St-Jean and I am an experimental physicist, currently working as a postdoc in the polariton group at C2N.  My main research interests are related to the interaction between light and matter, either in the quantum regime or in systems presenting exotic symmetries. In 2016, I completed a PhD in the group of Prof. Sébastien Francoeur at Polytechnique Montréal, during which I was interested in the physics of atomic defects in semiconductor materials. My main objective was to demonstrate their potential for building light-matter interfaces for quantum information. The same year, I joined the group of Prof. Jacqueline Bloch as a NSERC postdoctoral fellow (and as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow since 2018). There, I extended my research interests toward polaritons (i.e. light-matter quasiparticle) confined in photonic crystals exhibiting non-trivial topological properties, thus contributing to the emerging field of topologcial photonics.
